Trash by Andy Mulligan

Raphael is a dump site boy. He spends his days wading through mountains of steaming trash, sifting it, sorting it, breathing it, sleeping next to it.

Then one lucky day, he finds a leather bag. Its full of clues. Its a bag of hope. This bag...will change everything. He seeks help from his friends Rat and Gardo, and soon these the smelly boys are running for their live lives. They are being chased by the police and  are put for duty to put right a terrible wrong. Now it's these three boys and the whole of the evil minister's gang of cops.

This piece is really heart touching and may remind you of the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'. It points out that corruption should not be ignored and with the correct person's help, you can get the guilty in jail. The idea for correcting a terrible wrong is very adventurous, as the boys are sacrificing their own lives for the happiness of an old innocent man in jail and for the happiness of their dump site people.

3.5 stars out out of five for this book
