Green Beans: the Mystery of Hollow Oak by Gabriel Gadget
Noise in the woods, and this 10yr old is very curious about it. Ahhh...and the boy's name is Neil. I think.
Such a boring book!!!!! No wonder its free on Amazon. The first three chapters are all about little kids playing baseball(no interest) and I got so bored I just deleted it. Not worth it. Not at All!! Actually, I think the author is a crazy baseball fan. (y)

A Sliver of Hope by Karla J. Nelienbach
Hope and Hannah...twins since birth, and soul sisters forever. But when Hannah finds Hope dead on the morning of April 1st, she thinks its just another one of Hope's filthy jokes. Hope was probably the only person she knew inside-out, and could trust her life on. The grief of Hope's death is dragging Hannah down into an abyss of misery. That's when brother Doug arrives with Julian, the first person to break her heart. Will Julian help Hannah out of this abyss, or will it be Hannah who would have to make the effort?? As Hannah discovers the 'otherside' of Hope's bright, cheerful nature, it would be unlikely to happen...but when Julian's there, everything can be crazy but fine all at the same time.
Another free book on Amazon! Though the book got rated mostly 5stars, I though it lacked expression. Yes, one part did bring tears (when Hannah called Hope a b****), but other wise, it was mostly Hannah calling Hope selfish all the time. I LOVED Julian's character, but Glory wasn't so 'involved'. Her drinking and partying did complete most of the gap, but the deficiency of Hannah's school days with her did leave some excitement. I like Doug, and his sudden attachment to Hannah. Mom was more lost out, whereas Dad was helping Hannah through therapy. I loved Julian, his carefree attitude and attractive smiles, but the book seemed more of a love story rather than an emotional drama type. Julian's part should have been cut of a bit. Also, I think more of Hannah's and Hope's childhood memories should have been described. Hope seemed like having an all-rounder reputation, but after her her death Hannah is in the limelight. I liked that, and also how Julian would materialise by her side when ever she lost self-esteem. Didn't get some parts though, so I recommend it for readers 13+. :D

Alexis Tappendorf and the Search for Beale's Treasure by Becca C. Smith
Alexis's parents are off to New York for a top-secret research. And with no other place to live...she has to survive at her Great Grandma Mae's bungalow for a whole 6 weeks. On their way, she notice men with metal detectors being arrested by the cops. The question arises, what was illegal in going around to finding stuff with metal detectors? On reaching, Alexis befriends the Boyds, and learns to hate the mayor-family Woodmores. She discovers that hidden in the ordinary country-side town Summervale is a century old hidden wonder, aka the Beale's Treasure. Olivia and Alexis are on the search, but what can two little girls do if even no adult has managed to decipher the second clue?! Will the manage to keep away the nasty Woodmores and help to fulfill their family's expenses...
This book is too good to be sold for free on the Amazon website. I found this story to be quite well written, though I though the author should have used more "colourful" words. Some things did make me curious, like how the Woodmores managed to reach the treasure at the end since they were so fat(haha) and how Great Aunt Mae could cook such delicious food in such great amounts even when the family was on their financial lows. I enjoyed the character of the Woodmores, and the occasional fun the family made of them. I would have liked to know more about Mae's late daughter Nora, how she must have been.
The next book following the disappearance of Alexis parents is about the unfounded city of Atlantis.... And I would also love to do some reading on that.
